I should point out that when confronted with this need, I create the
certificate on the sshd and scp it to the local terminal and then I can
simply connect without passwords. This with entries short name entries
in /etc/hosts can be real effective. This allows me to easily switch
virtual consoles with Alt-F1/etc keys - sometimes you forget which
computer you are sitting at after a while.
