I downloaded Lindows 4.5 from the Lindows website. Right now the version
is 4.5 for Laptops, but it works equally as well with desktops. I needed it
because version 4 didn't have the proper drivers for my built-in sound card,
so the sound was scratchy. Upgraded to 4.5 and all is beautiful. I am a
Lindows Insider, so I get all of the downloads for free for two years.
What is great is I paid the $4.99 to get the DVD upgrade to Lindows. So now
I can play regular DVD movies, as well as Windows Media Player files and
Quicktime movies. It makes the desktop so much more versatile. I think
that Lindows is right now one of the only distros that has a chance of
gaining significant progress in the desktop market.
Installing and uninstalling programs is easier in Lindows than it is in
Windows. I can't compare it to Macs because I don't have familiarity with
them.
Now I just wish that Earth & Beyond had a Linux version.
