Unfortunately yes, it is WD 120GB JB series also called special edition. My
experience with Maxtor is different and Maxtor is number one choice of
Compaq and I did not see so much problem with Maxtor based on my 15 years
experience. I selected first time WD drive and now....Besides WD drive
customer service is much ahead of it. Even their own system does not work
when you call then or try to open RMA online...What else I can say?

Are you sure it was Western Digital you dealt with or Maxtor? :-P I have
never had any problems with WD HDs in the last 14 years. My 270Mb still
works, though it's now been retired because it's not worth it. I've had
2 Maxtors go bad on me in the last 14 years (they were OEM) but not one
WD, even the OEM WDs I've dealt with.
