Tell that to RedHat. Comes that way, stock. The root account is
tacked on to groups root, bin, daemon, sys, adm, disk and wheel...
Mind you, I'm using RH 7.1... Soon to upgrade to Gentoo once I get
a new system (just don't want to work on it just yet).
