I want to configure samba to use encypted passwods and when that is enabled in smb.conf samba works fine although on the next line I am supposed to define the password db type.
If I use the defualt no one can login with samba or access samba shares. When I comment out that line it works although I am not sure what I should put in its place.
Below is the text from the conf file I have read the man page althouth I did not see anyting on the db type.

encrypt passwords = true
