Specifically, the Promise TX2 card is supported in 2.4.21 and I believe
2.4.20, but they changed the compile flag between the 2 versions and it
took me a little while to figure out what was changed. The kernel source
I used was from kernel.org so it is in the main kernel tree. But I don't
have the general solution you are looking for. Changelogs are helpful to
grep through for features and changes.
