Subject: The nth Crusade Was: Advice for choosing a distro
I know that some of the configuration tools and such are distro
specific, and that some distros come with highly specalized tools (i.e.
the expensive propeitary version of wine, whatever that may be called)...

...however for most people that are new to linux two things are common:
1. They are dual booters and likely have little invested in in linux.
2. They are unlikely to need higely specalized propeitary software.

I was serious about when I said "And *then* install debian." Debian is
not a ton of fun for newbies, so if you are just staring out on linux it
is likely not the distro for you. (although it was a hell of a way for
me to learn, I knew withen a few hours of using mandrake that it was not
for me)

OT and BTW I am going to try to install a Gentoo this week as I am sick
of some dependency problems that I am having with Debian unstable.
