Subject: I want to return to *nix.
******, you are a BIG (insert *nix flavor) fan. I was hoping you could tell
me why you prefer it to the other *nix flavors out there. I want to learn
how to run a computer to the point that I could be an administrator if
called upon. Is (insert *nix flavor) good for beginners or which one is? I
liked Mandrake 9.0 (of my experience between it and RedHat 7.3) and I like
Knoppix (I'll have to ask someone how to put it on HD if it is determined to
be the one I should run). Then I must remember that if I get (insert *nix
flavor) there may not be anyone local that I could physicaly visit with my
computer or call if I need to.

I gave up on Linux after I accidently reformated my drive (I had the CD in
when I started my computer and then got stupid <don't ask>) and couldn't get
lots of my stuff running after it was reinstalled and everyone was real busy
so help was sparse.

After I put *nix back onto my system I will definately write down what
people do to get my peripherals working! Then, after my hard drive fails (I
can't wait!) I'll know how to get everything started again.

I initially wrote this letter to Jeremy Reed but decided I need to send an
open letter to create discussion as to the positive and negative points of
the various *nix flavors.
