What is the block size jumper set to on the CD-ROM drive? Try changing
the jumper position (if it's on, take it off... vice versa) and try the
procedure again. I've had that burn me more than once.

Also - make sure you can read the contents of the CD on another machine
(can you mount the CD on another *NIX system?)
