Subject: Boot issue from cdrom on sparc 4m
Its got a NIC right? You can't set up a netboot install?

http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/sparc/ch-install-methods.en.html#s-install-tftp

You might be able to manage this type of install from a Knoppix CD on your
laptop if you don't have other resources. If Knoppix has tftp, rarp, bootp, and
dhcpd and you can dedicate a little space on a partition for some files (perhaps
in RAMDISK) to boot from, you might be OK ... that is assuming you also have an
internet connection as well. I guess there is a possibility that there is a
reason you can't boot from the install CD you have made but you CAN read from
it, this might make an internet connection unnecessary ... boot from network ...
install from CD.

If you are really really nice and patient someone might set up a netinstall
situation for stammtisch ... if you don't have it working by then.
