Subject: OT: Anyone who knows, Can find ur residence

\_ SMTP quoth DARREN BROWN on 6/26/2003 14:20 as having spake thusly:
\_
\_ Google has implemented a new feature wherein you can type someone's
\_ telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and then you will be
\_ given a map to their house. Think about it--if a child, single person,
\_ ANYONE gives out his/her phone number, someone can actually now look it up
\_ to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious and alarming.
\_
\_ This is not a hoax ; Mapquest will actually put a star on your house on your
\_ street (you can see it if you click on Mapquest). In order to test whether
\_ your phone number is mapped, go to http://www.google.com/ and type your
\_ phone number.

This isn't anything but simpler to get to that same information. Any
phone book has this information available. At least for businesses,
qwestdex.com provides map links too. I just had the residential page
up and confirmed that it listed addys for a heap of Smiths, but didn't
link to a mapping service. So what was a two step is now one easy
step.

And remember, as you surf from site to site, looking for instructions
to drive from house to house, YMMV.
