FreeDOS is GPL'd. The FAQ says it can run on an XT with 640k memory.

Linux and no other real Unix will run on it.
I have a 386 with 4MB that I used to slowly run Debian on. Someday, I plan
to try to get old 386BSD running on it. (I have it.) Then I'll use it as a
historical demo at some open source conferences.
