I still got the same response: "Sorry, the modem doesn't respond=2E" I then =
messesd with the flow control and what happened was thus:
flow control: modem query:
CRTSCTS Sorry, the modem doesn't respond=2E
(then, a littlle later)
Modem query time out=2E
XON/XOFF (boxes for ATI 1-7 which have nothing in t=
hem)
None (boxes for ATI 1-7 which have nothing in t=
hem)
I live about 5 miles east of where we meet for Stammtisch if you would be wi=
lling to come by my place=2E Either that or I will drive wherever you might =
want me to meet you=2E
Does it sound to you all as if my modem burned out? If it does who has one =
which I could buy (or have)?

It may be as simple as telling kppp where your modem is=2E Bring up kppp, cl=
ick on
Setup then the Device tab=2E By default /dev/modem is selected, try /dev/tty=
S0=2E
Click on the modem tab and query the modem to see if it works=2E
