Hi I took a harddrive that had win2K installed, using Fat32 not NTFS and =
tried=20
to install Mandrake 9.0. Mandrak has a function that will resize a fat=20
partition, but in this case, it wouldn't work.
Before Igo to much further he is the equipment I'm using a via technologi=
es=20
EPIA mini itx mother board with a C3 800mH processor. 20gig maxtor drive.
I took the drive, attached it to another box, as this one has no floppy d=
rive=20
and ran partition magic on it resizing the win2k partition to 10gig, leav=
ing=20
10 gig for mandrake.
The installation froze as it was installing the packages. Thinking that m=
y=20
Mandrake disks might be bad, I also tried installing RedHat 8.0, same res=
ult.=20
It froze as it was installing packages.
I removed the drive, reinstalled it into another box and the installation=
went=20
fine.
Removed and reinstlled the drive in the Mini itx box and booted.THe first=
=20
screeen that came up was the bootloader with the various OS options,=20
basically mandrake and Windows.
I selected mandrak and the boot process froze.
Windows booted fine.
Deinstalled the disk, reinstalled it in the other box and both mandrake a=
nd=20
wndows booted fine.
Such are my results. I think it must be some conflict beteween the new=20
motherboard chip combo nd mandrake as I am currently writing this on my=20
normal desktop which can boot to Mandrake 9.0, RedHat 8.0, K12LTSP, a Red=
Hat=20
7.3 version and Windows2K
