Subject: irix, system v, and slackware
I have been looking at the irix os lately and was wondering what the
learning curve is for someone who is competent configuring/using *nix. I
have no experience with system v and the unix platforms I have worked
with in the past are Solaris 4.x and HP-UX 9.0. With slackware I have
managed to expand my sphere of *nix knowledge to BSD type platforms. Ok,
by now most reading this are going BFD. I am just hoping that someone
might have a little background with irix, mainly because I job that I am
looking at applying for is requesting someone familiar with irix and I
don't want to look stupid if I get called for an interview. I am reading
up irix and since I believe it is open source am thinking about
installing it to get a look and feel for the os but am hoping for live
experiences with the os. Because this topic is out of step with the
group discussion feel free to e-mail me privately on this topic if you wish.

thanks,
Craig S.
