I wonder if it is just confused since I installed the os with a usb mouse plugged in and that is working fine. Well will need to play with it some more. Thanks.

I installed it on a Vaio R505 and the touchpad worked without any special
set-up. I was installing RedHat 7.3. The computer was stolen shortly
thereafter, so I cannot give you any settings from it :(.
