Subject: Installfest questions....
Hi folks! Long-time lurker, first-time poster!

I'm starting to get back into Linux after being away for a while. I was
running Slackware back in the 1.2.13 kernel days. I've currently got Redhat
7.3 w/ the ximian gnome desktop running on a dual PPro and things are going
well. Still tinkering around a bit to see what I really want to do with
this machine. Probably just though another hard drive in there as network
storage through Samba. Maybe host a couple web pages.

Anyhow, on to my Installfest questions! I'm considering going just to see
what's going on, but if I were bringing a PC, I wouldn't want to go through
the trouble of bringing my monitor, kb, & mouse. Why not have a few KVM
switches set up to do installations with? You could be doing four(+/-)
installations at once in a much smaller space. I imagine there could be
issues with people having older monitors at home than the one used for
setup, but I'd think as long as they know what monitor they have, the
refresh rates could be looked up & configured during setup. Just curious as
to why I haven't heard anyone mention using one yet.

Also, I'd be interested in hearing about some other applications of Linux.
One of my favorites is Freesco, a floppy-based firewall/router -
http://www.freesco.org/ for info. I've also had luck with Coyote Linux in
the past as well - http://www.coyotelinux.com/ . I'll be working on
setting up an old 486 as a Freesco box sometime when I get a chance. Of
course that may not be until late June, so I may be bringing that out!

Thanks for your time!!
