There are many answers to this question. The one for
you depends on your needs.

If you're just interested in "any old soundboard" and
equate good with cheap, then go to Fry's and get
whatever has a low price. If it works to do the things
you want it for, you've accomplished your mission.

But if you want to make a more selective choice, the
place to find out is on rec.audio.pro, where the number
one most frequently asked question is "which sound
board should I buy?" Information to guide you may be
found in the rec.audio.pro FAQ, which is at:

http://www.faqs.org/faqs/AudioFAQ/pro-audio-faq/

On the question fo a FAQ for the PLUG site -- I have no
connection with the site and its maintenance myself
other than to have browsed it a couple of times.
However, if there is to be a FAQ, I recommend that
whoever creates it makes sure that the information on
it remains limited to the scope of the purpose of this
group, rather than trying to be an information source
on all matters relating to Linux. For instance, the
question at hand, namely which soundboard to buy, we
have seen is best answered in other FAQ. The same is
true of virtually every question you can ask about
Linux -- which distro is better, how to install and
configure this and that, etc. However, matters that
relate to users in the Phoenix area might be useful to
have in a FAQ.
