I've actually had this problem once before long ago and I remember it had to
do with a line in LILO. Unfortunately (there's a lot of this), I did an
"Expert Update" re-install to repair the corrupted files and that overwrote
the lilo.conf. I think it has something to do with a initrd line or
similar.

The line you say it is stopping at is found in the rc.inet1 file (slackware.
Mandrake may be different) So I would doubt it's a problem with LILO.
However, I'm still pretty new, so I'm not sure on it, just thought that
every bit of info you could get might help.
