Why must people change things when they already work?
I had no problem using the ADSL configurator on RH 7.1. The install found and setup the driver for my NIC and the ADSL configurator setup the PPPoE and BANG, I was online.
I installed RH 7.2 last night. The ADSL configurator has been replaced in the KDE Control Panel by an Internet Configuration Wizard and A Network Configuration tool. I have tried various combinations of settings in these two tools (start eth0 at boot, don't start at boot, enable/disable alias support, use hardware address, etc.) but to no avail. It reports my NIC manufacturer string but the light on the DSL modem for the NIC connection does not come on and PPPoE and eth0 inits fail with timeouts.
Either I don't understand these GUI tools or they are broken and I need to learn how to manipulate the config files myself. Anybody have any ideas about making this work? Untill I get my firewall box back up, I must connect my PC straight into the DSL modem so I can get online.
