I had a run-in with my cable company recently. When they said 'we don't
support Linux', my response was (in effect), 'That's OK, I don't expect you
to support my system, that's my responsibility. I do expect you to support
your network, so please can we work together to sort this out.'
This was surprisingly effective in making progress. Make sure you do know
what you're doing with your system, though, otherwise it falls flat.
