SUMMERY OF QUALIFICATIONS
Experience includes diverse skills in basic administration of linux/UNIX operating
systems from installation of the Operating System (OS) to basic configuration as
multipurpose servers. Other experience includes the installation of Microsoft Based
Operating systems (any flavor) and installation and configuration of hardware for
various purposes from Enterprise Server to home workstation. Some of this has
focused on customer support of already installed windows (Microsoft) installations

RELEVANT SKILLS
Installation Technician (linux) - installation of new linux operating systems on
existing hardware (sometimes with share partitions with other operating
systems already in place). Most conversant with Redhat Software version
of linux (and its variants). Other flavors have included: debian, SuSe
(German based linux OS), Storm (debian based linux package), Trustix
(basic security linux package as used for setting up router/gateway
"in a box" platforms), Mandrake (A Redhat variant),and OpenBSD (UNIX).
Configuration Technician (linux)- Configuration of the above named systems for
optimal performance in hardware and software (including the setup and
configuration of secure shell servers, Apache webservers and ftp fileservers).
Other basic configurations include SAMBA, WebMin (Web Based Administration)
sendmail and fetchmail.
Installation Technician (windows) - installation of windows operating systems on
various processor platforms (AMD, Intel) from initialization of Harddisk
(new installation) to upgrade of older operating system platforms
(windows 95, windows 3.11, etc.). Such installation may include the addition
of workstation to an already existing network or basic home workstation
environment.
Security Technician (linux) - installation and maintenance of IPCHAINS/IPTABELS
based firewall systems (including IPMASQ capabilities) by use of either hard
coding (scripting) or the use of "front-end tools" found in any linux OS.
Installation of security patches to various system services to prevent
unauthorized intrusions or exploitation of systems.
Security Technician (windows) - installation of firewall (software) systems for
windows 9x based operating systems. Configuration of same depending on
particular brand (Norton, Zonelabs, etc.). Setup for system policies Under
the Windows NT environment (permissions for use of specified resources, etc.)
and installation f required security patches to prevent unauthorized intrusion.
Customer Support Technician (linux) - accept calls or requests for help on various
aspects of a linux based operating system (includes troubleshooting hardware
or software difficulties).
Customer Support Technician (windows) -accept calls or requests for help on various
aspects of windows 9x systems (including installation of new software, upgrading
existing software and troubleshooting hardware/software conflicts).
Remote administrator - administration of remote linux/UNIX systems, upgrades,
configuration and security patching of required systems and software.
