The apmd daemon doesn't have anything to do with shutdown, AFAIK. It
handles power saving features.

Hmm.. I thought I answered this already. Are my mails getting through
to the list?
The .config file is created by 'make config' or 'make xconfig'. You
aren't supposed to change the file by hand at all.
Did you see my other mail about recompiling the kernel? That's what
you are going to have to do.
