It lacks scorefiles (killfiles), meaning it's difficult and annoying to 
read some groups.  And it doesn't (IIRC) remember the messages you've 
already read, making it less useful.  Also, a number of the more POed 
participants in comp.os.linux.* killfile all posts matching 
^User-Agent: G2.* because there are so many spammers, clueless people, 
and so forth using G2.  And G2 doesn't thread properly by References:, 
but improperly, using Subject: .

In all things other than running in a browser, {slrn, emacs, pan, knode} 
beat G2 in all important ways.  At least IMO.
