Installfest questions....

As someone that recently went through the trouble of
trying to get a working linux box as a newbie, I think
this modem and ISP information is quite important. 
When I first installed linux it took me quite sometime
to figure out how to connect to my ISP.  On Mandrake
that I run there are a lot of options to the
configuration and I had no idea what it all ment.  I
would of loved to have some you there to help me, and
explain it.  It would have saved me a lot of time and
aggravation.
