wu-ftpd - symlinks

Aside from the flaming... if you are allowing anonymous ftp into your box 
and login is being chroot'd to /home/ftp/pub then you need to recreate the 
directories and files that you want access to. I personally don't allow 
ftp access to my machine from the outside network, I use SSH instead.
