I didn't change a thing from WinNT 4 setup - where it worked fine -
reported only 1 drive to OS and seemed to handle the mirror (RAID 1)
fine.

I don't think it reports them as same id since RHL 7.1 sees both drives.
I thought about it and said what the hey, I can create the raid arrays
now at configuration - and break them later if I get the hardware raid
working - it was a late decision but I am sticking with it as the best
one I could make under the circumstances. Doubt that card is afu - doubt
that RedHat could properly diagnoze the hardware.

I think I updated it last January - I definitely updated firmware on
SCSI controller

probably nothing but rpm -ivh kernel-2.4.3.-12.i386.rpm doesn't touch
the /boot on the hard drive so it's obvious to me that if I boot from
floppy, it will continue to load original installation anyway. I like
gymnastics but I prefer not to enter the competition myself. I'm also
afraid that I will have to re-trench over the weekend so why bother.

I tried both with and without. I was thinking that something in lilo
needed to be appended - like bios=0800 but I don't know and thought that
if I loaded my email with the lspci & dmesg output that one of the great
minds would be able to id this for me.

Thanks for helping - I'm nowhere closer but at least someone read my
plea for help.

I have to believe that the problem is getting the Adaptec Array
Controller to be understood by lilo.
