VA LINUX YET ANOTHER DOT-BOMB CASUALTY
VA Linux Systems, which set a Wall Street record by increasing its stock
price 700 percent upon its 1999 IPO, is quitting computer hardware and
laying off 35 percent of its staff. That's a reversal of fortune for CEO
Larry Augustin, who as a Stanford grad student in 1993 started bundling the
open-source OS into white-box PCs and PC servers.
