How to safely delete excess files ???

You can use chrome (or chromium) to remove its cache/temporary files - that's what the google-chrome stuff is.  Somewhere there should be a 'remove temporary files' option (or something like that).


And that is the safest way to remove cache files - use the program that created them.

Is there a safe way to identify and delete some of this stuff?

For example: $: locate cache | wc ... found 10248 files

Another example, in /home/joe/.cache/...
I found more than 3,000 files like these few examples:
