<p>You can use chrome (or chromium) to remove its cache/temporary files - that's what the google-chrome stuff is. Somewhere there should be a 'remove temporary files' option (or something like that).</p>

<p>And that is the safest way to remove cache files - use the program that created them.<br>
</p>

or thousands of files in a "hidden" directory somewhere<br>
that seems to be taking up excess space.<br>
<br>
Is there a safe way to identify and delete some of this stuff?<br>
<br>
For example: $: locate cache | wc ... found 10248 files<br>
<br>
Another example, in /home/joe/.cache/...<br>
I found more than 3,000 files like these few examples:<br>
