inpossible to answer without just asking questions such as...*

   - Is the site built such that configuration files determine what appears
   on the website?  If so were configuration files changed as part of the roll
   out?
   - Is the site based on a framework of any kind?  If so which one?
   - As part of the change where file permissions changed?
   - Was the associated database modified?  If so How?
   - Beyond that...
      - Are you using some kind of versioning system that can allow for
      rolling back
      - If it is 'bug free' then why does it have a side effect of disabling
      the Community section?
