x broke (was: computer broke?

Okay..,. Time to change the title because now I know what broke.... the
problem is x broke. It doesn't seem to want to play with the new kernel
nicely this time around. Before I screwed around with the 64 bit processor
and then went back to the 32 bit animal it did. What I don't understand is
why x worked with the first installation of the 32 bit processor but it
doesn't work with the current installation.
