Yeah, Compaq's are not the most easily installed systems. This was just
a case of having too much going on during an install. A full KDE LiveCD
makes a horrible install platform on a low memory box.

The BSD thing isn't surprising, really. It's a simple, text-based
install. If you can slice up a disk then you can do it in your sleep.

I'm going to give Ubuntu/Kubuntu another try with the "alternate"
install ISO and see how that goes. I installed Ubuntu before and liked
it, but that was, what, 5.10? Whatever was before Dapper.
