Cheap Linux-Friendly Dialup in Phoenix?

Some comments re
the AzTeC Free-Net:
AzTeC is oriented towards text-only stuff
(think bash / terminal without X;
  or think "Dos" vs. Windows).
but that does not
necessarily mean that they are "e-mail only";
...they also have a "lynx" web browser,
  and I think, a news reader of some kind
  ((although aren't there some web sites that
   have "groups" that are sorta gatewayed with
   Usenet? ...that seems preferable imho))
((did dejanews.com merge with Google groups?))
AzTeC also [used to?] have some local discussion
list[s], although I long ago stopped following
most of them - even the main one. Like Usenet
groups, but with an AZ (or Aztec) focus.
Now I think they offer POP3 email (text only)
with [free] SSL.
So anyways, maybe the phrase
   << "the old asu freenet" >>
is technically correct, - - since it does
include the word "old" - - note that
(before the current one, "aztecfreenet.org"),
their previous domain name was "aztec.asu.edu".
But asu.edu was only one of several of
their original sponsors, - albeit a big one, since
ASU was also their (free) landlord / sys admin,
(free) ISP, and the source of several of their
initial volunteers, hardware, software,...&c
...well actually I think the software came from
(the "freeport" folks, at) cwru.edu.
   Now EMR is AzTeC's (free) landlord and ISP,
(including free inbound dial-in, I think)...;
and I recently read that Rick Lewis, (one of their
board members, plus I think he was the VP) is
moving to Washington state RSN - like, tomorrow.
I am not sure how 'relevant' AzTeC still is
in today's world, but I think some blind, or
"vision impaired" folks have a special fondness
for it, since they typically don't have much use
for graphics anyway, and sometimes they
can use gizmos with auto text-to-voice
conversion for stuff like text files or or e-mail
messages, or [some] web pages (like, from
mainstream media news outlets)
or - in some cases- possibly some
"Braille" output devices.
