Here's the summarized thread to date. Looks to
me like the big question of the moment is; can
we get a booth gratis?
If so - we will find bodies to fill it.
If not - Jay Jacobson has generously offered a corner
of a table in his booth for our flyer and CDs! (and
has made tickets available! see below)

Hans Kugler:
do we want to have a booth there?

Matt, Jim, General Consensus:
YES!

Hans Kugler:
Do we have people willing to man it?

Matt Alexander:
I'd be happy to sit and chat with people.

Alan Dayley:
When is the expo? What hours to man the booth? What days? Details,
I need details! ;^)

Derek Neighbors:
Dates Times? Im across the street so I can certainly come down a
little and help out.

[ Thu, Fri - July 25, 26 - 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM ]

Jim Farli:
As far as manning it, we had no problems manning both expos that we
had a booth at in the Civic Plaza. In fact, I was under the
assumption that the reason we had not been offered a booth for the
last few years was because we drew too big a crowd.

der.hans:
I'm pretty certain I can get us a booth because they're having low
vendor turnout this year.

Matt Alexander:
Hmm... Kinda spendy...
Booth
10' x 10' - $850.00
10' x 20' - $1500.00
20' x 20' - $2800.00
Island 20' x 20' - $4000.00

Jim Farli:
I assume that this booth is being made available at no cost, or at
least I hope so. Is this the same expo that Viking got us into a few
years ago? If it is, I remember being required to pay additional for
access to electricity.

Matt Alexander:
It would be good to have piles of OpenOffice CDs to hand out instead
of pens and other such nonsense.

Matt Alexander:
Could we get some people to put a nice PLUG flyer together to hand out
as well?

Michelle Lowman:
I'll do the flyer. Let me know if you have something specific that you
want on it. I plan to put general PLUG info and InstallFest info on
it.

Michelle Lowman:
BTW, what is the design for the OpenOffice CD label? If there isn't
one, I would like to volunteer to do it.

Jim Farli:
I think it would be great exposure for PLUG and maybe even for AZOTO,
especially at this time. There is a lot of interest on the list in
advocating for freedom and free/open software. We should take
advantage if that.

Jim Farli:
Also, if we can get someone to head up the organizing, we can get
someone else intimately involved with PLUG. Lord knows we can always
use more active people. Let me know what other information you have
and what I can do to push this thing forward.

Bob Bushman:
I too will be happy to help in any way I can. I'll start this evening
after an IF2 status update by summarizing the thread to date, and
getting links to more info on the Expo itself. (I can't be there to
man the booth during office hours)

Jim Farli:
One of our own, Jay Jacobson, is scheduled to do a presentation. WTG,
Jay!

Jay Jacobson:
Thanks, Jim. :) Yes, I am doing a network security presentation on
Thursday and my company (Edgeos - www.edgeos.com) also has a booth there.

Jay Jacobson:
If anyone wants free admission tickets to the expo, you can print the
following PDF and take it there to get in:
    http://www.edgeos.com/pdf/Edgeos-Tech-Expo-Ticket.pdf

Jay Jacobson:
If PLUG happens to NOT get a booth there, but you still want to
distribute some fliers or other literature, Edgeos will have some
spare table space that PLUG can occupuy. :)
