Linux bloating.

Mandrake has the "pick an install type and install the world" options, but 
you can select and de-select individual packages if you have the time.

I think it is time for the distro manufacturers to do the base install 
automatically - there are some things you just cant do without - and then ask 
you what atddtional capabilities you want, letting you choose the packages 
from a list of options that they have available.  

I do think there is a place for the "desktop, connected" quick and dirty 
install selection for those newbies tho.  Why make life more traumatic for 
them at the start.  Hook em first and then show them the real world.
