[PLUG-Devel] NFS tuning

I'm looking at tuning NFS mounts (high volume file server for apache and
mail), as I may need to change from async to sync (or dirsync at least), and
want to know how bad that'll hit performance.

I've seen mention of Bonnie++ and IOZone for benchmark testing. Any
recommendations?

Any general gotchas regarding async/[dir]sync?

Also, I'm wondering which NFS version would be best to use. The machines are
all CentOS4, running 2.6.9 kernels.
