we're hiring someone to work on Oracle. Not really GNU/Linux right now:(,
but we are trying to move the platform from Solaris to GNU/Linux.

Obviously I'm using a GNU/Linux desktop to connect to the Solaris
servers...

DATA WAREHOUSE ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Title: IT Developer

This position is responsible for data warehouse & database development and
administration for enabling business analytics and reporting.

Responsibilities include:

- Reviewing data models and assisting in their development

- ETL development using Informatica

- Complex coding in PL/SQL

- Writing complex SQL queries to generate reports

- Performance tuning & systems analysis

- Giving regular feedback to project manager



Required abilities/experience/knowledge:

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Data warehousing experience

- Development background on Oracle and MySQL

- Strong SQL knowledge

- Experience in using Informatica

- Strong documentation skills

- Self motivator

- Bachelor's degree required

- 4 years minimal experience in database or data warehouse development



Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Experience managing Oracle databases on Solaris/Linux platforms

- Programming knowledge in Perl, PHP, and/or shell scripting

This has mostly been an SQL and pl/sql monkey job. The db environment is
pretty complex. The current plan is to stop doing direct db access and use
Informatica and Siebel.
