Fair enough. You should be able to build a NAS (one boot device and one USB
storage).
Beware that the NAS is as good as its weakest link (the USB cable).
Keep the setup in a place away from cats/dogs or other inquisitive beings.
Use whichever NAS appliance (distro) you are most comfortable with.
