permanently delete tun0

I was experimenting on my raspberry pi when I installed an openvpn
server.  I no longer need it so I removed it.  However tun0 is there.  I
tried deleting it, but when I reboot the Pi, it's back.  How do I get
rid of tun0 once and for all?
