I hear the same thing. 6 years ago I bought a 1TB SSD for my work
computer. It came with a 5 year guarantee. I was untrusting at first.
This is my daily driver. I under use it in that I do not store as much
data on it as it really can hold. I run anti-virus almost weekly and I
treat it just like it was a spinner. I have forgotten it is an SSD
except at boot time....
I assume there are some lesser quality SSDs out there.
The price has dropped.

Turn your spinners into backup drives. I put the SSD in the first drive
slot and the spinner in the second drive slot.
