scanner officejet 4652

My HP officejet 4652 scanner doesn't seem to be working correctly. If I put
a stack of papers in and increase the number of pages to scan to anything
above 1 I get the error:

failed to start scanner: invalid argument

but it scans one page.

Any ideas as to how to fix it?
When I click 'scan' on the scanner it says 'No computer found.'
