1) find out which distro is on your pi
2) find out what package manger it uses
3) find out how to add a repo to it and add the python repo
4) run an update to get the new packages list
5) install python
*) alternatively, get the python-arm package (.deb, .rpm, or .tar.gz) and
install it manually
Cross compiling is not for the faint of heart and unless you're comfortable
editing a makefile and possibly reading a coredump then modifying C code
either by hand or using patch, then I would advise against it.
