Hello Joe, as someone else already mentioned:
save your password to a text file and "copy'n paste' it from there over and
over again.
That invalidates a typo and guarantees that you always use the same
password.

Now my concern:
What I hear is:
SSH likes me.
FTP doesn't.

Is this box publicly running FTP?
Oh boy...
