I think the reality is it doesn't have
a wireless chip built in. It's an old sis chipset, tend to be
rather crap, and probably before wireless became ubiquitous to
include as a toss-in.
Pick one up off ebay or newegg, a usb chip (I'd recommend atheros
chips), or get an internal pci used if you figure out what it has
for a slot.

Try lsusb
Check rfkill too, it'll tell you if it sees a
controllable wireless device from acpi bios.
