Subject: Re: care about Ransomware
A 'Linux System' is a misnomer, as it is the statement 'Android is partly
Linux'.
Android has a Linux kernel.
'Linux' is only the kernel.
What you call a 'Linux System', is a 'GNU System with a Linux kernel'
Macintosh OS is a 'GNU System with a BSD kernel' (not sure which one, there
are 3 or 4)

With that clarified, I'd be wary of clicking on anything that can be
executed without my consent.

The 'protection' of a 'Linux System' (as described above) is that it (by
default, this can be broken by the user) shields the 'Administrator' by
running under 'Unprivileged User' rights.

However, that user has access to its files and those are the ones that will
be encrypted, so if you run a software against them, you 'll lose them.
Stick to your packed manager and run anything unfamiliar on a sandbox (a
'throwaway user') and you'll be (for the most part) safe.
YMMV...
