Subject: gnash debian youtube fix
moin moin,

I've never been able to get gnash working for swf, aka flash, video. I
only try once in a while, so my experience is not exhaustive and other
people obviously have it working to some extent.

Tried again tonight and found that 240p mode would work on youtube, but
looked grainy.

Per a mailing list thread, I created a ~/.gnashrc file with "set
MediaHandler gst" in it and now 360p and 720p also work. I believe that
can go in /etc/gnashrc if you want gnash to work for every user.

Not yet sure if this option should be enabled everywhere.

I generally avoid flash, but sometimes I need to use it.

Tried out a couple of other flash sites, but they don't work in either
mode :(. One uses flash version 9, the same as used by youtube. Don't know
what version is used by the other site.

gnash appears to only support through version 10.

TheDailyShow.com isn't working because it uses flash version 11.

Also not working for hulu.com, which is flash version 10, so it could work.

ciao,

der.hans
