Why is Firefox so slow? How to speed it up?

Each time I start-up Firefox, it takes about 13 seconds for it to load.

Chrome takes less than 2 seconds.

Has Firefox become another victim of bloatware?

I have done all of the about:config "fixes" that I can find, but FF is
still ridiculously slow.

Is there something I'm missing that I can do to speed it up?
