OT : CodeIgniter Ugly Hack to Make Backward Compatible

Hi,

I thought I would post this here since the AZPHP list seems to be dead and I am hoping there might be some CI people on this list.

As I read about CI, I read that CI had an ugly hack so it would be backwardly compatible to PHP 4.  One thing I have not been able to find is what that hack actually was.

If you know and want to share I sure would like to hear.
