Tried this suggestion, but it does not work ... does
not find $$ at all, even though paragraph breaks are
double line breaks -- i.e. \012 \012.
> Do a search for 2 of your your replacement characters ($)
> and replace $$ with something else, like a double plus (++)
> or som e other character not found in your text. Then
> delete the $ in the document and do another
> replace to restore ++ to EOL or paragraph breaks.
